In my last post, I finished with the importance of avoiding air bubbles in a skateboard deck. Under certain pressures, any skateboard deck will crack or snap but putting the stability odds on your side means using glue able to flex under strenuous ollies and drops.
Once the skateboard deck is shaped and ready for hardware it will be time to drill 4 truck holes on each end of the board. Always drill a pilot hole first, to avoid cracking the wood. This simple step is many times forgotten leading to days of creation down the drain. Create a truck template before drilling anything though.
If the trucks are not symmetrical then the whole board will be out of whack when riding. Take measurements to ensure the 4-holes for each truck are positioned in the same relative position on either side of the skateboard deck. When the holes are drilled it will be time for graphics. Graphics are your chance to put personalization on the board. Start by building a picture on the computer, save it on a flash and then take it to a sticker company with the board dimensions. Waal-la it is time to skate. |
